This document examines the requirements for your website design and programming being successful, and essentially sets the scope of the web design, programming, technical limitations, search engine optimisation requirements and an analysis your competitions web presence.
The requirements specification is crucial to the success of the website, because it is the starting point for the technical limitations, quotation and later for the web design and programming itself. Our requirement specification research usually takes over 12 hours not including the consultation. I would personally worry about any backyard web programmer willing to give a free quotation without a planned requirements specification document.

Phase 1 - Web design and programming consultation & research
Clarifying web design requirements and strategies involves both methodical examination and technical imagination. It's not unlike looking into a microscope with one eye and a telescope with the other. This stage is about listening, understanding your requirements, your industry and clearly defining your web design outcomes and objectives.
* Stage 1 - Web Design Consultation
Our initial web design consultations are set to a maximum of 1.5 hours, we talk about what you want to achieve with your website, and discuss our web design process and ascertain if you website requires special functionality and a certain level of search engine optimisation for your customers. When we are instructed to continue with a website requirements documentation we will quote your company for an initial assessment. This assessment is to be paid upfront.
* Stage 2 - Website requirements documentation and web design quote
After our initial consultation and instruction to proceed with the requirements documentation we arrange another meeting to sit down and work through detailed requirements. We establish competition sites, define navigation structure, and page elements, form data, technical limitations and level of seo required. Subsequent meetings may be organised to work through finer points of the specifications. On average our assessments require a minimum of 12 hours. We complete a detailed site map with a typed web analysis, detailing an accurate quote based on our research.
Phase 2 - Website Design and Programming
* Stage 1 - Website specifications and Web Design quotation approval
On approval of the website specification and our web design quote we require an initial deposit of 25% to schedule time frames to the project and allocate resources.
* Stage 2 - Designing screens and visual layouts
Producing screen designs is an extremely emotional experience, every client is different and every requirements documentation has it's own technical challenges, but enjoying a website design experience is just as emotional. The customer should feel absorbed by the screen designs, they should want to explore the website, and sit up and take notice.
During this stage we work with the client making sure that there style guide, branding and image is correctly translated to their website. We produce a number of different page designs based on a very detailed initial concept and research. On Screen sign off an invoice of 25% is issued and we move to stage 3.
* Stage 3 - programming
Programming is simply a set of instructions to tell a computer how to perform a particular task. It's like a recipe: a set of instructions to tell a cook how to make a particular dish. It describes the ingredients (the data) and the sequence of steps (the process) needed to convert the ingredients into the cake or a fine cuisine. Websites are very similar in concept it's both an art form and a science. After careful consideration to the technical limitations of your website we use modern programming techniques including CakePHP, PHP, CSS, MySql, XHTML, XML, Web Services, Adobe Flash, Adobe Flex and AJAX.
* Stage 4 - Search Engine Optimisation status check, Website Testing & Website Launch
