Notorious Strumpets and Dangerous Girls
Client: Phillip Tardiff. Project: Interactive CD Rom programmed in flash that preserves the "look and feel" of the original book. Notorious Strumpets and Dangerous Girls is the story of each of the 1600 convict women sent to Van Diemen’s Land (now known as Tasmania) in the first three decades of European settlement. We converted the 1801 page book into sections, and made an interactive cd that allowed users to search 1600 biographies, a gallery of maps, pictures, documents and audio of letters from the period. The republishing of the book in an electronic format offered many advantages, it made it more widely available and affordable and equally important made biographies fully searchable an advantage for researches.
